The Scandinavian countries: Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark are known for their minimal aesthetic taste when it comes to home décor.

And because 2016 calls for simplicity, authenticity and elegance, you may want to try these tips for your own homes:

First of all, you need to consider adding some accents from anything natural. Which means, when giving accents to the house, add some light wood and other cozy accents. Swedish people believe in the word 'Lagom' which means 'just enough' in English. This is what they call Northern minimalism.

Second, because they are situated in the northern part, they experience colder winters. During this time, they place just the necessary pillows and some cloth to help them survive the cold while staying in the living room. No other things are placed there except enough number of pillows and some cloth to cover the house owner during the cold weather.

Third, paint the house using the suggested Pantone colors or any neutral colors. Avoid strong colors around every corner of the house. Scandinavian houses are more into natural colors like beige, light gray, white, and light brown. They just some striking colors in some parts like the pillow cases in the couch or paintings to give clear foreground from the area.
