Celebrity Homes for Sale: Former House Of Tennis Player Anna Kournikova Listed For $11M

A South Beach penthouse that was once owned by tennis player Anna Kournikova has been sold for $11 million.

According to Miami Curbed, the penthouse at Portofino Tower was sold by Kournikova's ex-husband, retired Russian NHL star Sergei Fedorov, who purchased the home for $2.3 million back in 1997, which was also the same year Portofino Tower was opened. Portofino Tower has a total of 44 floors and was the first luxury tower built in the South-of-Fifth neighborhood of Miami Beach.

Fedorov and Kournikova were said to be married from 2001 to 2003, but the latter reportedly denies that they were ever legally married. However, Fedorov said in his interviews that he and Kournikova got married and later got divorced.

The Real Deal reports that the place was purchased by a Russian buyer. The penthouse measures 5,680 square feet and boasts four levels with 1,825-square-foot terraces. The unit has four bedrooms and six and a half bathrooms. The place was sold for $1,937 per square foot, and Daniel Pansky of Miami Luxury RE LLC revealed in an interview with the site that it is the most expensive sale in the South Beach condo building for 2015.

Pansky, who was also the buyer's agent, refused to reveal the identity of the buyer but said that the property is very unique. They were reportedly lucky that they found a buyer who was looking for the same attributes as the place.

Kournikova also owned and sold some of her previous properties, including her home at Sunset Islands, which was sold for $9 million. She also sold a property at 2345 Lake Avenue in Miami Beach which occupies a 0.44 acre lot for $7.45 million back in 2012. It was said to be $2 million below her original asking price.
