Tiny homes were the trend late last year but this is one trend that shows no sign of slowing down. In fact, a lot of people are showing their interest in the new movement and its popularity is increasing.
The reason for this, according to US News, is "For some, the tiny house movement has become a way of life, adjusting to a smaller space and fewer possessions, with a goal of saving money and focusing on relationships and experiences."
But for some, moving from a large house to a tiny one can be a daunting prospect, here are ways to know if you are ready for it:
Are you super organized?
People who know how to get their things organized will adapt better to having a tiny home. But if you're one who ends up with piles of laundry and other stuff scattered throughout your place, these tiny homes is definitely not right for you. US News states "Living in a small space requires you to rethink your entire relationship with stuff."
Do you want financial freedom?
According to ConstructionDIVE, its hard to pay off a mortgage for a "traditional" home, but with tiny houses, it's typical to own one outright and their prices can vary "from $35,000 to $55,000 (and even more for a high-end custom build)."
Do you want to be unencumbered?
If your tiny home is built on wheels or is able to be loaded onto some, you can live anywhere you want, or at least, as long as it's allowed.
Do you want to lessen your mortgage?
Some people are getting tired of working harder and longer just to pay off the mortgage for their "traditional" homes. So if you want to skip that and live without such concerns, a tiny home may just be right for you.
If you want to save in more ways than one, you need to remember that less space means less upkeep, and less maintenance, less overhead. You can definitely cut down on your electric bill if you move from a 2,000+-square-foot house to a tiny one.
