What Living in a Dorm Taught Us

Perhaps one of the most memorable parts of college life, aside from struggling for your degree would be the multifaceted dorm life. Living in a dorm is definitely a life-changing experience, you learn to new things about yourself and especially about others. You might not have noticed all of the events in your dorm life; however, each of those experiences had contributed to what you are right now.

To start with, having your own place (partially due to roommate), definitely gave you a sense of freedom and ownership. You have become more independent, mainly trusting your judgement and accepting whatever the result is. The point is, you've grown away from total parent control, while living a dorm life. However, a minor glitch would perhaps be because of your roommate or the situation of your dorm, but you've still managed to overcome such things.

One of the many perks that living a dorm life gave us would perhaps be the ability to be near with people whom we like or who share same sentiments and likes. There are multitude of individual who we've chosen to be with, whether for study or party purposes. In sense, dorm life taught us to be flexible in whatever the situation is and whoever we are with in that situation. On the other hand, living with a handful of personalities, might have led to some conflicts, but still it made you better person in the end, hopefully.

There are many things we have learned from living a dorm life. As what fastweb mentioned, cooperative living, organizational skills and being responsible in all the stuff that we have done would perhaps be the best lessons you've learned from such experience. And all of these lessons are not just mere dorm life experience, for if you will be looking at it from a macroscopic point of view, those things you have experienced are lessons in life in its entirety.
