You have probably heard of container vans being turned into homes, but land vehicles are not the only ones that could be turned into lovely houses. In Manuel Antonio Costa Rica, a luxurious hotel called Costa Verde has transformed a vintage 1965 Boeing 727 aircraft into an exclusive hotel suite.
The fuselage home's architect, Allan Templeton, got the idea from magazine article. However, when he asked the owner of the supposed aircraft turned home, the feature turned out to be a hoax. Templeton shared, "When I asked the man if I could go see one of his homes, he told me it was all just photoshopped, and there was no home, and there were no pictures. And so I decided at that point that I'm gonna do this."
In their website you can click on a YouTube video that links to the 727 Fuselage Home's feature on HGTC. According to the video, Pendleton got an old aircraft that was decertified and was used for fire drills at the San Jose airport. Five 18-wheelers moved the plane to the property and it took 2 years before they started building the suite.
The aircraft now sits on a 50 foot pedestal, giving its guests a picturesque view of the ocean and the jungle. It has its own entrance up a river rock, and guests could use a spiral staircase to get to their room. The lodging has two air-conditioned bedrooms, each with its own bath. Standard accommodation amenities like flat screen TV, a kitchenette with microwave, and a dining area, are made more grandiose by the 360 degrees view of the lush greens and calming ocean. The furnishings are handcrafted from Java, Indonesia, and its interior is made of Costa Rican teak paneling.
The lodging brings you closer to nature, while you are indulging in the lap of luxury.
