UNESCO Heritage Site 'Albert Dock' Under New Ownership, Sold for £43 Million

The Aberdeen Asset Management is now the proud owner of the Albert Dock after purchasing the property. The said UNESCO Heritage site has been bought by Aberdeen for £43 million according to reports.

The Albert Dock has once been the icon for innovation, ingenuity and testament of engineering feats. However, this is not the first major change that happened with the said site, for according to albertdock.com,;

"The Albert Dock was not always as we know and see it today: its history dates back over 170 years to 1839. Following a period of dereliction and a complete regeneration, the Dock was officially reopened in 1988. Construction of the Dock began in 1841; the 1.25 million square feet site took five years to build and it was officially opened by Prince Albert on 30 July 1846."

The home of Grade I-listed building in UK includes 400,000 square feet of commercial and residential property. Its former owner, the Arrowcroft has admitted that it is the right time to hand over the said property for new stewardship and development. Nicholas Hai of Arrowcroft stated via telegraph that;

"We take great pride in having restored these magnificent historic buildings and, in so doing, led the regeneration of Liverpool's waterfront and created an attraction that has global recognition. It is now listed by Unesco as a World Heritage site. After 33 years under our ownership we recognise that it is time to move on and it is pleasing that its future will be in the hands of a highly respected Institution. We wish Aberdeen well in their stewardship of this development and into the next chapter of Albert Dock."

Now that the said property is with its new owner, there is no telling what would be the future of the said historic landmark. But it would be certain, that changes or upgrades to be made, if there is, is aimed for the best interest of both history and society.
