New York Giants' Josh Brown Will Be Working In Commercial Real Estate During Off Season

New York Giants' Josh Brown will be showing off his talents in real estate beginning this week.

According to Puget Sound Business Journal, professional football player for the New York Giants Josh Brown will be working with industrial brokers in the Bellevue Office of Jones Lang LaSalle. He is not really a new player in the real estate company because he interned with JLL during off-season of 2015. He was also formerly the placekicker for the Seattle Seahawks from 2003 to 2007.

"I love the competitive nature of it. I love the ideal of the chase," Brown reportedly said Friday. "It really does fit my wheelhouse."

Being a sports professional, why venture commercial real estate? According to the publication, Brown has explained how he got into this sector. The New York Giants reportedly has a program that assists it players what career path they might want to take on after football. Those who enroll in program evaluate their goals and traits. But Brown admits that he did not personally choose commercial real estate. Instead he said, "Commercial real estate kind of picked me."

Jones Lang LaSalle participates in the program. Roger Staubach is both a member of the Pro-Football Hall of Fame and also chairman of the board at Jones Lang LaSalle while JLL's lead in the Northwest, Joe Smurdon was impressed with the 36-year old New York Giants' placekicker during an interview. According to Business Journal, his kind words for Brown are, ""He interviewed really well and we said, 'Hey, this guy would be a great broker.'"

And Casey Trees, a Seattle broker that Brown has worked with, shares the same opinion of Brown, saying, "He's hungry to learn. He's approaching this as just another guy starting in commercial real estate and has learned how to tie the relationships he's made through football into future business relationships."

Josh Brown, a Woodinville resident, is currently a free agent and is back in Seattle after the Giants did not qualify in the playoffs. He will go back to the Giants next season and he says, "I'm hoping to play until I'm 40." In the meantime, Brown will be a JLL employee during the off seasons as soon as he gets his real estate license, according to the publication.
