With almost everybody trying to save up, looking for the cheapest flats to rent in London is one of their ways to keep their earned money. However, a wonderful flat with a small rent rate would be more than a good deal.
The millionaire founder of SpareRoom.co.uk Rupert Hunt is looking for 2-3 flatmates in his £3 million house at a high street in east London. Hunt allows his prospective flatmates to pay only any amount they can every month.
The founder of the flatsharing service is using his website to advertise his 15-room house in Spitalfields and find flatmates that suit his qualifications.
"I'm offering the rooms on a 'pay what you can afford' basis. I'm far more interested in finding the right people to share with, who I'll enjoy having around and add something to my life, than maximising my rent," wrote Hunt in his SparerRoom advertisement.
Hunt's million-pound house includes a music room with a baby grand piano, and even a garden room Hunt refers to as the Disco Lounge. However, he warned his potential flatmates that he is more focused on his work, so he might not be a desirable flatmate to live with.
Although Hunt can easily live by himself, he prefers company. "Having fun people around beats living alone, and coming home to a light in the kitchen is usually preferable to returning to a dark house after a day's work," he said. "I don't want to live with friends. They don't automatically make good flatmates, whereas good flatmates can become great friends," he added.
This expensive home was brought by Hunt in 2013 after he separated with his wife. The qualification he posted in his ad includes playing music knowing great card games, has gardening skill, owning a pet, and going out to parties at night.
