Scenic Former Lighthouse Station in Remote Shetland Islands Now on Sale for Only £85,000

A scenic former lighthouse station in the remote Shetland Islands is now up for sale for just £85,000.

The Muckle Flugga lighthouse station, which boasts spectacular views of its surroundings, will only cost £85,000 upon purchase. This building has four two-bedroom apartments and gives a majestic view of the north of Unst, the northern part of Britain which is highly inhabited. The property for sale is located in the remote and rocky island and is considered a good resting place - away from the city's constant noise.

With blue skies blanketing above the property, the sea surrounding it adds up to its spectacular views. There are also rolling green hills that can soothe any spectator. The lighthouse has been known to serve as a holiday getaway for those who want to escape their busy city life.

However, the gales in this northern region are quite strong. The island where the building is located is exposed to the regularly cold winds. Real estate agent Harper Macleod offers one of the four two-bedroom units for the said price.

Named as the large steep-sided island, this lighthouse's title came from the Old Norse MiklaFlugey and is included among the Grade C buildings. It was built in 1854 during the Crimerian War to give protection to the ships.

The building is 20 meters high and has a staircase with 103 that will lead the visitors to the top of the lighthouse. This former lighthouse was fully automated in March 1995.

The light beams in this former lighthouse used to flash every 20 seconds with the range of 22 miles or 35 kilometers. It was first lit on January 1, 1858, and was highly useful during the war.

This low-priced property is a good investment especially useful in times of de-stressing from work. Its interiors have also been modified and arranged to make it as cozy as any shelter can be.
