Known Russian billionaire, Dmitry Rybolovlev, is selling one of his Upper West Side apartments for a whopping $88 million.
New York Curbed previously reported that the purchase of the property was considered to be the most expensive in 2011. It was also said that Rybolovlev purchased the place then for his college daughter, Ekaterina Rybolovleva.
The penthouse features an unobstructed view of the sunrise and sunset over Central Park and also has a total of 19 glass doors, which open to the terrace. The 10-bedroom penthouse is located at 15 Central Park West and was redesigned by Robert A.M. Stern. The building is also where other notable personalities also reside, like Robert De Niro, Sting, Denzel Washington, and Alex Rodriguez. According to the New York Post, the place was also previously owned by former Citigroup Chairman Sandy Weill.
Aside from the penthouse in New York, Rybolovlev also paid $95 million for Donald Trump's Palm Beach mansion. Other trust holdings under his name include a $150 million Greek island that once belonged to Athina Onassis and a $20 million Hawaiian island, which was owned by actor Will Smith.
Rybolovlev started his business back in 1990 with his scientist father after he finished studying medicine at Perm Medical Institute. By 1992, he opened an investment fund and began buying the shares of different industrial enterprises. In 1995, he was named the chairman of the board of Uralkali which is Russia's largest producer of potassium fertilizers. According to Forbes, Rybolovlev's estimated net worth is $8.5 billion, and he is the 93rd richest person in the world.
