A family residing in the Netherlands gave specific instructions to their architects that they wanted to experience living and floating on the water. So now, their contemporary houseboat floats on a canal in Utrecht.
The home designed by BYTR architecten is built in such a way that the family can see the entire park outside while maintaining complete privacy from the inside. It looks like a regular modern home, but it is settled on the water form, and instead of an SUV, a boat is parked right outside the residence. Either use that boat, or cross the footbridge to be able to enter the house.
The interiors are mostly white, and there are huge glass windows all around the home that enables natural light to fill up the home. There is a big skylight just above the main entrance that opens up to the view of bright skies and treetops. The floors, storages and furniture are mostly made up of wood, adding a rustic meets modern feel to the living room and kitchen. The place looks spacious because it is very neat, and the family has kept their appliances and furniture simple and minimal. In their living room is a huge mustard couch, and the main accent is the neoteric fireplace, and a bright white table that is also made of wood. A shelf adjoining a wall houses the books and television. A few steps from it is a well-lit reading nook for two.
Access the staircase to go down and see the bedrooms which also has clean white interiors. The bathroom is on the same level, and it doubles as a laundry area as it also has the washer and dryer. Meanwhile, just above the kitchen and living room is a fabulous deck, where the family could hang out and rest while savoring fresh air.
