‘State of Affairs' - NBC Release Date is Nov. 17; Heigl Set for a Small Screen Comeback as CIA Analyst

November is indeed a full packed month, not only for the tech world but also for television as there will be a lot of new and returning shows, MovieFone reports. One is the new political procedural drama of NBC, the "State of Affairs" that is slated for a Nov. 17 debut.

Based on the new show's title, NBC's new series is set for thrilling drama and action scenes which will involve a lot of politics. In the released trailer for the upcoming flick, audiences are given a peek on what to expect on the upcoming "State of Affairs" pilot season.

Buddy TV reported that the short video introduced Katherine Heigl's character, Charleston Tucker, a CIA analyst who will become the American President's right-hand woman in terms of national security concerns. Heigl is known for her well-acclaimed role in the popular series "Grey's Anatomy". Her fans will surely be excited in her television series comeback in "State of Affairs Season 1."

Aside from being a presidential briefer who is tasked in making crucial decisions, Tucker will also pursue her search for justice on her fiancé's death. She will try to get revenge after her man, the President's son, was murdered by terrorists.

"I am going to find every last person who had anything to do with the death of my fiancé and your son, and I'm going to end every single one of their lives," Heigl said in the promo clip for "State of Affairs Season 1," E! Online reported.

In an interview, Heigl said she considers her role a grown-up character that is fit for her current state. "State of Affairs Season 1" is the first regular television series of Heigl after her successful stint as a doctor in "Grey's Anatomy." The 35-year old actress said her new character is "a strong, intelligent, powerful woman who has these weaknesses and vulnerabilities."

"State of Affairs Season 1" also features Alfre Woodard as President Constance Payton, Adam Kaufman as Lucas Newsome (briefer to the acting CIA director), Sheila Vand as Maureen James (member of the CIA team for the President's Daily Briefing), Cliff Chamberlain as Kurt Tannen (member of the CIA team that works together with Maureen), Tommy Savas as Dashiell Greer (briefer to various agencies within U.S. Intelligence) and David Harbour as Chief of Staff David Patrick.

NBC's new political procedural drama will start airing on Nov. 17, at 10 p.m. on NBC.
