It's Official: Playboy Mansion Is Now The Most Expensive House For Sale at $200 Million

The iconic Los Angeles Playboy Mansion of Hugh Hefner has finally been put in the market for a whopping $200 million -- Hefner included. It is the most expensive home for sale now, taking over the spot from Palazzo di Amore ($145 million).

The rumors that the infamous mansion, where wild parties were thrown back in the '80s, will be listed came out a few days ago, and now it has officially been put on sale. And with a catch: the sale comes with a condition that the 89-year-old Hefner will be allowed to stay in the mansion for the rest of his days. The Playboy Mansion has been his home for 45 years.

The listing agents for the Playboy Mansion are Drew Fenton and Gary Gold of Hilton & Hyland and Mauricio Umansky of The Agency. According to Forbes, the strongest selling point of the property is its location and size. The house is 20,000 square feet, sitting on 5 acres of land. It is located west of Los Angeles in Holmby Hills.

The Playboy mansion has 29 rooms, a wine cellar with a secret door, a home theater, a swimming pool, a tennis court, its own zoo and the infamous cave-like grotto. It was built in 1927 and came to the Playboy's possession in 1971 for $1.1 million, which was reportedly the highest deal in LA at that time.

Unfortunately though, the house would need a major renovation and upgrade given its crumbling state. It has lost its glitter and "feels like it's stuck in the 1980s," as bunny Carla Howe told The Sun. In 2010, Izabella St. James, Hefner's ex-girlfriend, wrote a tell-all autobiography entitled "Bunny Tales." In the book, St. James revealed that "Everything in the Mansion felt old and stale, and Archie the house dog would regularly relieve himself on the hallway curtains, adding a powerful whiff of urine to the general scent of decay."
