Dr. Jonathan Zizmor subway ads say: ""you can look great today and take your time to pay!!" It seems that the well-known dermatologist has the same attitude with regards to his rent payment.
Jack Resnick & Sons wants the dermatologist to pay $56, 000 for medical offices at 133 East 58th Street. Zizmor is allegedly failed to pay his rent at his medical offices in Midtown, based on the summons sent by the Supreme Court of New York on Jan. 8, Friday, according to The Real Deal.
Jack Resnick & Sons, Zizmor's landlord, said that the newly retired dermatologist owes $56, 613.66 in his rent for his medical offices, as stated at the court documents. Zizmor's office seems to be permanently closed, and he could not be immediately reached for comment.
Zizmor became famous for his colorful advertisements in subway cars since the early 1980's. Several outlets have written about him since then. These include the New York Times and The New Torker. He even allegedly once turned down an appearance on "30 Rock," a Tina Fey's Show.
Financial problems hit Zizmor hard that he needed to put his Fieldstone mansion on the market in 2012. Streeteasy says that it is currently in contract for $3.075 million, which is less than its original asking price of $4.3 million. As reported by Gothamist.
He has also been in the news for suspicious dealings in the past. In 2000, he paid a fine worth $100, 000 to the State Department of Insurance after it has been confirmed that he had been collecting from insurance companies on acne surgeries that he did not actually performed, and another $40, 000 fine the state Health Department for failing to appropriately treat nine of his patients.
It is not clear how long Zizmor allegedly withheld the payments as Jack Resnick & Sons refused to give their comment.
