Kitchen trends are making their way into new homes this year from kitchen utensils, to the palette and design. Kitchens are one of the most important areas in today's homes and it's undeniable that most home owners would shell out a few extra bucks for their kitchen.
Though it isn't necessary to do a total make over, it is however beneficial to make minimal and low cost upgrades. As per HGTV website, one or two upgrades can work wonders in changing the kitchen's overall look. Listed below are some for the top kitchen trends from Forbes and House Beautiful.
One of the most common trends that would hit this year would be the grey or soft muted palate. Most kitchen cabinets would be painted in a subtle color, and grey would dominate the counter tops. As per the interior designer Jane Lockhart, white motifs would still dominate some kitchen, but kitchen counters and other areas would be in a different color.
"Charcoal, grays and even neutral pastels like pale blue, pale green gray and tinted whites are the new alternative to the standard white, drier colors will become popular, muted blues and greens and pale yellow pastel will be used as accent colors."
Colorful sink would make its way into the kitchen as well. As per HGTV, bold colored sinks will be in this year. A fresh hue would stand out on soft and neutral palettes, which makes it a great way to throw in a subtle burst of color.
80's themed kitchen would also be common this year. Brass accessories and high glossed surfaces may have vanished during the past few years, but they'll be making a statement this 2016. As per Jane Lockheart,
"An elegance not seen in the '80s will be an incorporation of a variety of natural materials to remove the 'plastic' look of that great hair decade."
