“I missed him so much that I had physical sensations of loss, all over my body. Like one minute I was missing an arm, the next my spleen. It was making me feel sick, like throwing up," writes Burroughs. He will definitely not miss his condo unit.
The author of the book “Running with Scissors,” Augusten Burroughs, has sold his home in Lower Manhattan, as reported by Realtor.
The condo, located at Battery Park City, measures at 615 square feet. Kelly Deadmon, the listing agent of this unit, says that, “The open houses were packed. People had offers in almost immediately.” It seems that everyone wants this unit -- who wouldn’t want it, right?
The 11th floor unit has been re-painted as a preparation for the sale. “He had painted all these fabulous colors. One wall was literally sheet music. The sheet music was hard to get off,” the agent recounted. Deadmon said that the walls were painted with a neutral hue and the floors were refinished.
Some details of the unit were also reported by Variety. As the article states, “The apartment opens to a puny but proper entrance hall and, in addition to the not quite square living/dining/sleeping space, [it] offers up a stylishly unadorned and smartly arranged kitchen barely bigger than a good-sized walk-in closet, a closet-lined dressing corridor, and a compact marble-floored bathroom with an unusually generous window and — the apartment’s one decidedly outré decorative element — shimmering stainless steel tiles on the ceiling.”
The view from the unit is also breathtaking. You can see Lower Manhattan, the Governors Island, and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.
The amenities for its residents include 24-hour security and concierge, a two-story fitness center, a children’s playroom, an indoor swimming pool, and a roof top terrace which has grilling equipment and a panoramic view of the Statue of Liberty.
The unit was originally listed at $599,000 but was sold for $637,000.
