Basic Home Items that can Refresh Your Home's Look

Redesigning a certain room doesn't have to be expensive. Using old household items can go a long way in freshening your home's look. Using your old books, plates, pillows, and old benches just needs a touch of creativity, which can either be painted or set up in a different way. HGTV and DIY & Crafts came up with a list on how to reuse old broken items that can serve as a functional home accessory to revamp any room's look.

Old Coffee Mugs

Coffee mugs aren't just for coffees. It can now be used as a pot where in you can plant herbs and place it within the kitchen. Placing it on the living room with a cactus can add life into the area as well.

Broken Frames

Don't throw out old picture frames as it can be recycled. Have it painted with a color that would suit the room and use it as an earrings holder. You can place it inside the powder room or beside your dresser mirror. It does not only look chic, but it keeps things organized as well.

Old Rakes

Dull worn out rakes maybe far out from what you've imagined but it can be used for the kitchen. Have it cleaned, rust removed, and have it repainted and it could serve as a utensil holder which would look good on a country-themed kitchen.

Old Book Case

Do make sure that the old book case is still sturdy and have it repainted. It is no longer beneficial for books; it can look good in the living room which would give you an instant mini bar.

Old Bottles

Spray paint old bottles to make beautiful vases which would look good on the living room. Add in some details that would suit your taste. Place it on the coffee table, or the patio porch.
