McDonald's is one of the most loved restaurants around the world as it caters delicious food to both kids and adults. No wonder that up to this date, new branches are being added in different areas in the globe.
Recently, a McDonald's branch has opened with a new high-tech design offering fresh pastries and a deli-style salad bar which is latest experiment to fit to the changing diet of the people.
The McDonald's Next in Hong Kong is the first branch that attempts to fit into the lifestyle of its customers especially that its sales have declined globally with news about its unhealthy food. Aside from that, its high-tech design includes touch-screen computers where customers can place orders.
The branch, in the Admiralty district, has touch-screen computers where people can place their orders without queuing for a counter, and self-ordering kiosks.
The menu includes two choices of "salad base greens", two kinds of cheese and three salad dressing flavors wherein its preparations and ingredients are shown in the "theatre kitchen." There are also asparagus and couscous which are displayed in glass cabinets in front of the sales assistants, Mail Online reported.
The burger-chain has free wifi and still offers their famous burgers and allows diners to create their own burger with different gourmet ingredients for their "Create Your Taste" option. Table service is also available after 6 pm and is open until 1 am. These are also fitted with wireless mobile phone chargers, Business Insider reported.
The look of the interior is also different as it used wood, glass and stainless. To add to its modern feel, long wide tables were also added as well as ambient lighting for a more relaxed feel in the restaurant.
Changes in the McDonald's food chain started when CEO Steve Easterbrook took the job last year wherein they tested table service and serving kales in the US. Also last year, they announced that they will no longer use eggs from caged hens as well as chicken and milk from animals with treated hormones.
Meanwhile, a change of menu was observed in Canada that included pastries and three new salads since customers are becoming health conscious.
McDonald's sales dropped for 2.3 percent on the first quarter of last year with an 11 percent drop in revenue. But after some experiments on the menu, their sales improved on the third quarter results for 4 percent.
More McDonald's changes are on its way even for its packaging as it created a new look substituting the clown smile with big bold lettering that wraps the company name and golden arches, The Motley Fool reported.
