Coachella Music Fest to Move from California to Randall’s Island in New York City

California's popular Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival will be coming to New York City. According to a report, the festival will move to NYC's Randall's Island from July 22 to 24 of this year, instead of at the Queen's Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. Although the festival will now be held on Randall's Island this year, the organizers still hope to move it to its intended location at the Queen's in the future.

According to Complex, the musical festival, which is tentatively titled "Panorama," was planned for two weeks after NYC's other major festival, the Governor's Ball. Founders Entertainment partner Tom Russell (a major Gov. Ball organizer), has said: "The timing of this corporate-run festival would threaten our ability as a small business to continue putting on the kind of event that has showcased the best artists, created hundreds of local jobs and put millions of dollars back into the city's economy."

With the rejection of Panorama in the Queens, it seems that the organizers of the Gov. Ball can breath a little easier, at least for this year.

Rumor has it that the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival was headed to the Queen's Flushing Meadows-Corona Park for a Panorama festival (the East Coast answer to Coachella), but it was announced recently that they will hold the festival on Randall's Island instead. The new location appears to be the alternate plan, and they announced it after Mayor de Blasio had said that there would be no festivals in the park this year, as reported by Gothamist.

Goldenvoice, the producer of the festival, announced that the festival entitled "Panorama" is coming to New York City on July 22 to 24 of this year. The annual event will present three days of top musical performances, innovative technology, dynamic art installations, and some of NYC's best local delicacies.

Also taking place in Randall's Island, is the Governor's Ball, which has just announced an insane line-up of artists including Kanye West, The Strokes, Robyn, Beck, and many more. The line-up for Panorama has not been announced yet.
