Here are a couple of design ideas in making any home fresh-looking this 2016.
Talking with veteran interior designer Jamie Drake, Curbed listed some of the ways in making any home look stylish and fresh this year. According to the site, there are some trends in 2015 that are worth keeping. Drake explained that metallic furniture will still be one of the trends, and generally many designers would move to alternative metals. He added that nonmetal and natural materials such as pyrite will make any home look fresh.
Drake also emphasized the importance of giving any home design a certain personality that matches the homeowner. If the owner of the house likes to travel, some unique souvenir items would make a perfect décor and will also add an exciting story to the place. Another important tip is to never rule out antique, may it be in furniture or decorations. Drake predicts that in 2016, the 17th to 19th continental European furniture will be the trend.
Meanwhile, South China Morning Post's resident interior designer said that the home design trends for 2016 will be a mix of old and new ones. British designer Kelly Hoppen explained that this year, people will opt to have an elegant and chic design in their homes. She also added that clean and crisp design will be popular not only this year; rather, it will stand the test of time.
Hoppen also reminded homeowners that it is important to incorporate a few statement pieces that will add excitement and personality in their space. She suggests materials like marble and leather, which never go out of trend, as well as black and white artworks. When it comes to wallpapers, Hoppen said that patterned wallpapers are now becoming the trend and will make any room stand out.
