Celebrity home designer Meridith Baer is famous for her expertise in home staging and interior designing. A-listers go to her when they are listing their luxurious properties and she contributes to selling the famous estates faster. According to Architectural Digest, Baer's talent in home staging made Avengers star Scarlett Johansson change her mind about selling her place. She recalls, "We staged Scarlett Johansson's home and she asked, 'Why exactly am I selling this house again. She ended up taking it off the market and buying a bunch of furniture from us."
Among Hollywood celebrities she is the proud designer of Julia Robert's New York pad, which was sold more than the original asking price. Iron Man actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie's main squeeze, Brad Pitt, are reportedly among Baer's satisfied clients.
When asked about her home staging secrets, the famous designer was more than generous to share some of her strategies.
The first thing to make sure that the purpose of the room is clear. Knowing the room is for makes it easier to choose accents and furniture suitable for it. A formal dining space should come with more sophisticated dinnerware and utensils, while a breakfast nook should be more relaxed.
A big living room could be maximized by diving it into different seating areas. A rug might just do the trick to make sure each area is unified. Baer reveals, "...a rug or carpet immediately tells you that you're entering a new space."
The designer shares that you have to identify the highlight of each room, then conceptualize your design from that point. It could be inside your home, or it could be a view from your window. However, she cautions, "Let in a good view," says Baer, "but if it happens to be unsightly one, bring in sheer curtains or large plants, which draw the eye away from an unattractive setting but still let in the light."
Lastly, she suggests that you keep your home fresh and bright by adding apt lighting, bright throw pillows or fresh greens and flowers.
