Dubai Looks into Constructing More Affordable Residential Properties

When we think of Dubai, luxury properties usually come to mind. The city oozes glitz and glamor with property owners ranging from celebrities to the rich and powerful in the emirates. However, it has been reported that Dubai is looking forward to developing a series of affordable properties on top of 200 dilapidated homes, an article from Property Wire said.

Danube Properties revealed its affordable housing project that will allow home owners to transform their one-room home into two. The Ritz Project at Al Furjan, on the other hand, is composed of 452 fully furnished apartments made up of studios and one to two bedroom apartment units as well. Inside the room is a bed that can be kept in a panel on the wall during daytime to be able to maximize living space.

The Ritz will feature semi-luxury amenities such as retail spaces, a gym, a running track and swimming pool. There are also  tennis and badminton courts and a basketball area.

Rizwan Sajan, founder and chairman of Danube Group said, "We are bringing the latest home technology to our customers at a time when consumers are looking for more with less."

The old villas in Dubai that will soon be demolished are known health risks. According to Dubai Municipality most of these properties are in the middle of inheritance disputes between family and some are even neglected by their rightful owners.

"There is a possibility that these houses are used as a den for crimes and as a hiding place for illegals and fugitives," said Khaled Mohammed Saleh, a head of buildings at the Dubai Municipality. There are possibly 713 abandoned homes across the city and at present, there are around 303 demolished and the rest have been renovated. The Municipality will demolish these houses and the owners charged  if they fail to comply.
