Organizing Mistakes that End Up Looking More Cluttered

Having a clean room doesn't mean it's organized and vice versa. Though one would usually tend to neatly organize a pile, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's organized. Flat surfaces that are filled with items that does not belong to the specific area, can make the room look more cluttered than organized. Listed below are the most common organizing mistakes that you would need to ditch this year.

A professional organizer, Linda Rothschild stated that, "having piles neatly lined up on the counter doesn't mean you're organized" as per HGTV.

Messy Looking Fridge

One of the biggest organizing mistakes as per the HGTV website is having a refrigerator that's filled with magnets, notes, and other clutter looking objects. As per another professional organizer stated,

"A big, messy focal point is a refrigerator tacked with magnets and reminders and notes and letters and photos and wedding invitations and art projects and shopping lists."

In addition to the notes on the refrigerator, Roth also added that putting up a note on that area would end up in the trash as no one would usually read it. Instead opt for a cork board where in you can set in up in a certain area for announcements and reminders.

Segregate Office Supplies and Mail

Though mails and bills would be neatly stocked and piled in one corner, it can still look cluttered most especially if it is mixed with newspapers and other office supplies. To make matters worse, chances are you won't get to find your important mails or letters once it is mixed with other office supplies, and mostly rubbish.

Untidy Storage Bins

One of the most common organizing mistakes most individuals do is to stock up several storage bins and set them aside, and this actually makes the area look more cluttered, plus the fact that it gathers dust. One of the best ways to break away from this trend is to segregate what's inside. As per Nancy Heller, "Use salad bowls...put dog's toys in one, some Tupperware in another. Put shoeboxes in your drawers and tidy up the shoeboxes when you have a chance."
