Home Design Ideas: Five Smart Kitchen Design Tips

The part of a home that will always be used is the kitchen, no doubt. There is no valid reason that negates the fact that an organized and well-thought of kitchen should be part of anyone's household maintenance check list.

The best way to decorate or organize any kitchen space is to prioritize efficiency. There are a lot of variable things that can influence how kitchens should be arranged given that there are different placements of permanent fixtures like closets, sink, and cooking stove. Here are general ways to keep your kitchen organized and optimized for efficiency.

1. De-cutter Cabinets

This is where evaluating kitchen wares should happen. Before putting tools in their right place, it is important to remove items that are not frequently used, duplicates, and broken items. The key here is to save only those that are necessary. It is surprising how much clutter one can retrieve from an unexamined kitchen cabinet.

2. Grouping by nature

Group baking items together and separate daily used cookware from occasional or seasonal items. Make sure that seasonal items are placed on the top shelf so that daily used items are easily accessed.

3. Containers and Lids

Throw away containers that do not have lids on them. They will only lead to opportunities to more clutter on your shelves. For remaining containers, make sure that they are stored together in a divided drawer so when the need for them arises, they will be easily accessed. Do the same for cooking pots and other cooking items.

4. Use Lazy Susans

These rotating trays offer so much space and can hold things like oils, vinegars and other contained cooking ingredients. Spices, vitamins and medications are good items to store here too. Lazy Susans avoids items from being left at the back of every storage shelf.

5. Organize at least twice a year.

This will not only reduce the clutter but also provides regular assessment on the kitchen's functions. Repairs and revamps will be easily facilitated when the kitchen is well-maintained.
