Home Design Trends Handpicked by Famous Designers

Home trends this year may be a bit different from last year as this year mostly focused on nude and neutral colors. Though bold colors that pop up in a certain area at home can work wonders, sticking with grey neutral hues is currently on demand. Listed below are handpicked designs that several designers chose.

White walls and loud accents

This specific design was chosen by Wendy and Greg from "Masters Retreat" who won the Fresh Face Design category. They told HGTV website that white walls are making a comeback this year, but this time, it will be complemented by bold accents.

"In 2015, we saw a lot of muted tunes and neutrals; We would love to see more color, more richness in tone, more contrast, more pattern and more depth."

Muti-Colored Kitchen Cabinets

Matching your kitchen cabinet with the counter may be a trend last year, but as for 2016, multi colored kitchen cabinets flocked most homes as it adds a pop of color into the subtly pained kitchen. In adding color into your kitchen however, it is important to go overboard.

As per Aliso Kandler, "Kitchen cabinets are getting more colorful, with less white cabinets".

Family Rooms

Investing on a family room is slowly becoming a trend as it gives families time to bond.

Daniel Contelmo, the designer who won "Kit-Tastic Spaces" category stated that having a separate room for home works or study rooms are being considered as the thing of the past. New house design already upgraded the concept of family family room and kitchen as it is usually merged and turned into a multi-purpose function hall. "We are seeing separate second floor homework rooms as a thing of the past. Parents want the children nearby while on the computer, so a homework alcove near the kitchen may become more popular."
