Drone That Mimics A Real-life Predator Protects Property Of Unwelcome Pests

Looking for ways to protect your property from pests in the sky? Scarecrows and other intimidating props are a thing of the past with the release of a programmed drone that resembles a real-life bird or prey by a company, Gizmag reports.

Bird-X, a pest control company that's been in the business for more than 50 years, just released ProHawk UAV. They previously released BirdXPeller which was a remote-controlled aircraft that makes bird-repelling sounds upon flight to scare pests off golf courses, crops and vineyards. But their latest one, ProHawk UAV is the first autonomous quadcopter of the fleet. With ground-based props, deterring birds can only be achieved within a certain radius, and this is where ProHawk differs - it is a device that can go beyond and battle pests in the sky.

What makes the ProHawk UAV great for its cause is that it is fitted with GPS and is programmed to follow a specific flight path along waypoints plus it features a built-in sonic sound unit. It can make several predator calls - from prey bird distress cries to Canada goose cries - as it follows the user's set route to clear the property of unwanted pests.

Also adding to its efficiency is its carbon fiber crafted body design which mimics the appearance of a real-life predator bird which helps in effectively terrifying smaller birds.

Unlike similar devices that can also be remote-controlled, ProHawk UAV offers an option for an automated flight plan which cut man hours. While launching, patrolling and landing can be automated, users will have to manually plug it in to recharge. But to make the entire process autonomous, the device can make very good use of one of Skysense's accessories released in 2014 - a landing pad which also doubles as a wireless charging station.
