'X Men Apocalypse' Movie, Cast & Trailer: Jennifer Lawrence Talks Mystique, Character Likely To Be Hiding

"The Hunger Games" actress Jennifer Lawrence spoke about the future of her superhero character Mystique in the upcoming film, "X-Men: Apocalypse."

The 24-year-old star discussed Mystique to IGN while promoting the newest installment of "The Hunger Games" franchise. Taking off from the events of the last film, Lawrence highlighted the duality and importance of the mutant.

"She's very complex, so she's kind of both. She's a hero to her own race, in a way, which makes her a villain to the opposite race. I don't really know where she's going to go. I've had a few conversations about where we'll find her. She basically has to be in hiding somewhere, but I don't know," explained the Oscar-winning actress.

It was recently revealed that the conclusion to the X-Men trilogy will be focused on the relationship between Magneto and Mystique, noted The Hollywood Reporter.

The entertainment portal shared that the romance between the two will be "front and center" in the script being developed.

"Apocalypse is being crafted around Lawrence's Mystique character and Michael Fassbender's Magneto. A source who has seen the script says Fox will take full advantage of Lawrence and Fassbender's star power, placing Mystique and Magneto's romance front and center," reported THR.

Bryan Singer is set to return as director for "Apocalypse," the third film in a trilogy that began with "X-Men: First Class," followed by "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

Not much has been revealed about the movie. All we know is that the team behind the upcoming film is still in pre-productions stage. Word has it that 20th Century Fox is re-casting some iconic mutant characters like Storm, Jean Grey and Cyclops, noted The Christian Post.

The need to bring in new actors is due to the film's timeline which takes place about 20 years in the past, before X1. The details were provided by X-Men writer and producer Simon Kinberg during a Yahoo Q&A: "If we included some of the original X-Men like Storm and Jean and Scott [Summers aka Cyclops] and others in Apocalypse, yeah, we would have to recast them because Apocalypse takes place a good 20 years before X1, which now insanely was 10 to 15 years ago," explained Kinberg.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is a long time off with the film hitting theaters a year and a half away. The film is expected to begin production April 2015 to make it's May 27, 2016 release.
