Manchester United and Arsenal will attempt to keep their English Premier League goals still attainable at this point of the season, as two of the most decorated franchises in English football history collide on Saturday 12:30 p.m (US EST) at the Emirates.
It has been a rough season for both the Reds and the Gunners, who saw all their major transfer acquisitions having less impact on the result in the field.
Manchester United (4-4-3 for 16 points) is coming off a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace in their last Premier League assignment, but the team hasn't score huge victories against elite teams this season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal (4-5-3 for 17 points) has also endured frustrations as of late, as they played to a 3-3 draw against Anderlecht at the UEFA Champions League and lost 2-1 to Swansea City two week ago.
Team News:
Manchester United: The Reds suffered another big blow after seeing a handful of their players sustain injuries from their international duties last week. Netherlands midfielder Daley Blind will likely miss six weeks after tearing his medial ligaments, while goal-tender David De Gea had a dislocated finger in Spain's recent international match.
Luke Shaw (groin) and Angel Di Maria (ankle) also suffered injuries, but they are nevertheless expected to play on Saturday.
Arsenal: The Gunners are close to recalling the service of Olivier Giroud, who missed three months due to an ankle injury. Danny Welbeck complained some tightening in his hamstring but will play against Man United. Other than the absence of Mesut Ozil, Laurent Koscielny and Mikel Arteta, Arsenal has no additional injury worries.
Predicted Starting Lineup:
Arsenal (Possible, 4-2-3-1): Wojciech Szczesny; Calum Chambers, Per Mertesacker, Nacho Monreal, Kieran Gibbs; Aaron Ramsey, Mathieu Flamini; Jack Wilshire, Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla; Danny Welbeck
Manchester United (Possible, 4-2-3-1): David De Gea, Antonio Valencia, Patrick McNair, Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw; Marouane Fellaini, Michael Carrick; Angel Di Maria, Wayne Rooney, Adnan Januzaj; Robin Van Persie.
