The Detroit Lions and the New England Patriots, both eyeing a momentum boasting win in the homestretch mark of the season, are set to test each other on Sunday at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts.
The Patriots (8-2), perhaps the second hottest team in the NFL behind the Arizona Cardinals, will attempt to extend their winning streak to seven games and further solidify their place on top of their division.
After a rough 2-2 start, New England suddenly hit the gas pedal starting from their fifth game against the Cincinnati Bengals, and from there on the Patriots have been hard to stop.
Three-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady continued to be driving force of the Pats high-octane offense, completing 233 of 364 passes for 2,649 yards with 24 touchdowns.
Pats running back tandem of Stevan Ridley (340 yards with two TDs) and Jonas Gray (332 yards with four TDs) has been devastating against opposing teams, while tight-end Rob Gronkowski (734 receiving yards with 9 touchdowns) having a bounce-back year after dealing with a myriad of injuries last season.
Like the New England, Detroit is also showing their might in the NFC North. They currently shared the top spot with Green Bay Packers at 7-3 with six games left in their schedule.
Sunday's match-up against the Patriots is going to be a crucial game for the Lions as they compete for the division leadership. Matthew Stafford is still putting up solid numbers with 2,679 passing yards and 13 TDs, but the team sorely missed the heavy production of Pro Bowl wide receiver Calvin Johnson, who only had 520 yards with three TDs so far this year.
