3 Quick Steps to Have a Kitchen Office You’ve Always Wanted

Whether you like staying in the kitchen for the love of cooking, or eating, while you do some office work, or you just want to have a space where you can deal with the bills, online shopping or light reading, setting up a kitchen office is not really difficult.

You don't have to be intimidated with the thought that you need to have a complete office furniture and what-nots. Here are three easy guides to help you get started with your own kitchen office:

Take a space that is out of kitchen work zone.

Choose a spot that is easy to access but is out of the way when you do your kitchen stuff. You can turn an empty area into something functional for your home office. Put a table and a chair on that vacant wall and you're off to a start.

Add a proper lighting.

A well-lighted area will be a wonderful place to do your reading or writing while the soup simmers. If possible, choose an area beside the window so you'll get natural light during the day. Don't rely on the overhead light of the kitchen because it may not reach the far corner you chose. Use a task lamp or an under cabinet light that can illuminate your desk space.

Include a storage and organizer.

Putting everything on top of your desk might the defeat the purpose of you having an area in the kitchen where you can actually work. So one of the basic things you should have is a storage for your files or a shelf for your cook books. You can turn a kitchen drawer above your desk for your books and files. Put a chalkboard or a corkboard on the wall where you can pin your pending bills, invitations or calendar to keep paperwork organized.
