Celebrity Homes always defy what most of us envy for a home. Most of these houses are stunningly designed with various approaches, contemporary, chic, urban, etc. And while we want to employ some of these home design secrets, Designer Jessica Today shares her take on how she turn Christina Applegate's "ugly" kitchen to a "modern-classic" glamorous one.
Today shared five ways in Lonny on how anyone could adopt this design approach she made for the kitchen of "Vacation" Actress' Los Angeles home.
1. Use The Sink Placement Secret.
If you're planning to renovate your kitchen, the advice given by Today is very simple - try to build your sink where there is a window. This is very practical in all means, energy efficient, and promotes a positive atmosphere in the room.
According to Today's tip: "Christina really wanted a bright and timeless kitchen. I chose a classic white color scheme to really make the space feel more open and welcoming. I also designed the space to have the sink situated in front of a sunny window. When you're designing or renovating a kitchen, make it a priority to put a window over the sink. It creates a much more peaceful setting for cleaning vegetables and washing dishes."
2. Prioritize Thoughtful Storage.
Most of us love to incorporate storages in any area of our room and storage is also stressed out importantly by the designer. Making use of a lot of storage in your kitchen will not only minimize clutter dwelling in your isles but will also make the look of your area, clutter-free.
"I designed Christina's kitchen with lots of custom drawers and cabinets for easy use when cooking-everything from upright slats for baking sheets, organized drawers for utensils and deep shelves for platters. I even added storage to the tufted banquette for throws," advised the designer.
3. Add Kid-Oriented Extras.
Today also extended the design features of the house to become "family friendly" and that even little kids would enjoy. She put up a message center area so that constant reminders for Applegate's family will be noted.
"Because the kitchen has become such a family-friendly room, I wanted it to be a space for cooking and creating memories. I designed a message center near the door for the phone, mail, pens and notepads. I also added a pinboard so Christina could hang her daughter's schoolwork and special artwork." as suggested by Today.
