Practically every person has dreamed of owning their own island - but not many are able to make it a reality. However, for just $11 million, you can own East Sister Rock Island, a slice of paradise just off the coast of Florida.
The island is perfect for those who aren't exactly sure if they can commit to full isolation, since it's just a quarter of a mile from Marathon, Florida.
As Yahoo Real Estate (photo slideshow) puts it, "it's sort of a tester private island." The island is smaller than most would expect - just less than an acre - and it's pretty close to the shore, so residents living on the island aren't fully cut off from the grid.
The island also has a 2,300 square foot home with modern furnishing and amenities, like a cable TV. Not only that, but if you're not feeling like dipping into the ocean, the above-ground pool could always be of use.
On the other hand, the island is completely off the grid, too: electricity on the island is generated by wind and solar power - although there is always a generator on hand, just in case. As for water supply, the island has its own 16,000-gallon cistern.
You're probably left wondering how the island can be accessed. There are two ways: if you're wealthy enough to own or lease a helicopter, then you can easily land on the island's private helipad.
If that's a bit too far fetched, then there's also the nautical option: take a three-minute boat ride from the coast to the island.
As it turns out, the island's most recent asking price of $11 million is significantly higher than the $8.5 million price it had just a month ago. But perhaps the island's current owners could be negotiable on that matter, since it's been on the market since 2012.
Just in case you can't really afford the hefty price tag on the island, you can still get a taste of East Sister Rock Island - the island has a rent price of $1,000 per night.
