Max Weinberg, drummer for Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band and a serial renovator, has embarked on another project: He was eyeing for quite a while and bought a Fieldstone home in Washington, D.C. According to public records, the property which he bought this month cost him $2.4 million.
During a week-long thanksgiving trip in Fieldstone, Weinberg toured and took a look at six other properties but ended up releasing an offer on the $2.4 million house. "I had seen it online and it looked like a really cool house," says that Springsteen drummer.
Situated in the Kalorama neighborhood, close to the French embassy, the approximately 3,000-square-foot home was open for offers in October in a home deal for $2.75 million. It has five rooms and 3½ bathrooms. Weinberg is planning to leave the facade as is, however the inside will undergo a major overhaul, with a blend of classic and mid-century influences. Another reason for the Weinberg's purchase is so that he may live a little closer to his daughter Ali Weinberg, an ABC News journalist. He also considers having the estate rented before the renovation.
Weinberg, 64, is right now on the road with Springsteen. He is also known for his appearances on Conan O'Brien's late-night talk shows where he acts as bandleader. Along with his musician celebrity identity is his fondness for buying homes and renovating them before reselling.
including his recent purchase, Max and his wife Becky already own five homes. He spends most of his time in his Palm Beach, Fla. home, and he has two properties in and around Cortona, Italy. One of his Italy properties is a Tuscan farmhouse available for about $1.82 million.
Jim Kaull of Washington Fine Properties represented Mr. Weinberg. Terri Robinson of Georgetown Long & Foster was the listing agent.
