Real Estate News: Mapping the Most Expensive Residential Buildings in Chicago

Chicago could compete in some other cities like NYC that have expensive real estate properties. There are actually 10 most costly residential buildings that are currently mapped out.

Curbed reports that to live in the priciest real estate property in Chicago, you need to have at least "couple million bucks to snag a condo or co-op in one of these ten buildings." Now, how did the list come up with these 10 most expensive residential buildings? It is noted that Broker Fran Bailey was the one responsible in tracking down "the city's priciest sales over the last several years and after looking at the median sales figures." Bailey came up with this conclusion of the 10 residential buildings that are considered as the priciest in Chicago for 2015.

Chicago Now says that 2015 was a "record year for condo or co-op sales." The total sales last year has totaled above $4 million. It is noted that there are "16 units crossed the MLS plus Ken Griffin's sale and George Lucas' purchase, neither of which went through the MLS."

Moving on to the list of 10 most expensive residential buildings, Chicago Metro Area Real Estate states that "The Ambassador at 1300 N State Parkway" is number in the list of the most expensive Chicago residential building in 2015. It has a "median sale price of $4,176,667 it also had the highest median sale price of any building since I started ranking buildings 5 years ago."

Next in rank is "The Residences at 900 at 77 E Walton." It is considered as the second most expensive building in 2015 because it has a median sale price of $3.55M. Waldorf Astoria is placed the 3rd with a median sale price of$3,462,500. The 4th place is given to 50 E Chestnuts because it has $3,145,000 median price. And the Fifth spot belongs to Park Tower with $2,600,000 median sale price. For the spots of 6 down to 10, these are the following names of the building, 30 W Oak ($2,596,000), 1347 N State ($2,287,500), 840 N Lake Shore Drive ($2,200,000), The Belvedere ($2,195,000), and finally Drake Tower ($1,999,999).
