Celebrity Real Estate: Director Richard Donner Selling Maui Estate for $22M

Built in 2004, the Maui estate of the director of "Superman," "The Goonies," and "Lethal Weapon," is a stunning beachfront hideaway. This custom-built island property of Donner and his wife, Lauren Shuler Donner, was featured in the Architectural Digest in 2008. Their listing agent is Meghan Clair.

Architect Thomas A. Kligerman of the Ike Kligerman Barkley firm designed the couple's 4,500-square-foot estate. The home has two bedrooms, four bathrooms, a sun room, a media room, and a great room. The house features a wall of glass doors and vaulted living spaces that flow to the outdoor deck. It also has a separate office, gym, and guesthouse, as reported by PageSix.

The classic Hawaiian style hideaway boasts a beautiful landscape surrounding the property, as well as its fascinating location in front of popular Keawakapu Beach. As you spend a relaxing day in a hammock in this beautiful retreat, you can gaze at the water while enjoying the ocean breeze.

Meanwhile, it will be a lucky time for screenwriters if they can land a meeting with director-producer Richard Donner and his wife, producer Lauren Shuler Donner, and be able to distill their movie ideas into a "high concept" that denotes a complicated narrative phrase to an easy-to-understand script.

According to Architectural Digest, the Donners are responsible for movie classics such as The Omen, 1976; Superman, 1978; and Free Willy, 1993. Richard Donner directed the first two movies, while his wife produced the third. For over 30 years, they have produced dozens of other blockbusters, including the wildly successful Lethal Weapon and X-men franchises.

The Donners want to spend their lives relatively easy. So, Donner told Architect Kligerman: "I don't want anything fancy. I want the sort of a place where if I don't wash the sand off my feet when I come up to the house from the beach, I don't have to worry about it."
