As previously reported, the Playboy Mansion in the Holmby Hills locality of Los Angeles is up for sale for $200 million. The estate that boasts of its infamous grotto where Playboy Magazine founder, Hugh Hefner, held lavish boisterous adult parties. The hefty asking price will cover the 6-acre property with 22 rooms, a wine cellar, movie theater, several tennis courts, the mansion's colorful history and Hugh Hefner himself.
As a non-negotiable condition to the sale, any potential buyer must agree to let Hugh Hefner live in the mansion for as long as he lives. According to TMZ, prospective buyers are free to tour the property except Heffner's room, which is completely off limits. As for the asking price, the house's notoriety and the value of a comparable property in the area suggests that the estate is worth only somewhere between $80 million and $90 million. The estate reps insists that the price, too, is non-negotiable.
Heffner's rival and founder of Hustler Magazine, Larry Flynt, is interested in the Playboy Mansion and wants to turn it into The Hustler Club and Hustler Mansion, according to the Daily Mail. Harry Mohney, of Déjà vu, the company that runs Larry Flynt's Hustler Club chain, said, "Larry and I have talked about it and are preparing a bid." But when it came to the Mansion's asking price, Mahoney said, "'We are not going to offer half that much."
According to TMZ sources, Flynt thinks that the mansion is only worth $40 million. However, he is willing to double that amount as an honor to the iconic estate but he does not want Hefner to be included in the deal. Mahoney reportedly told the New York Daily News he is interested with the mansion but not in co-habiting with Hefner and added the Hustler Mansion would host at least three VIP parties every week that would outshine the parties Hef had thrown in the Playboy Mansion.
