Celebrity Real Estate: How Ellen DeGeneres Connects Hollywood's Home Owners Together

It's astounding how real estate in Hollywood can be interconnected, all thanks to Ellen DeGeneres. Though DeGeneres has a day job hosting and acting, she is also known to be a real estate pro. The famous comedienne is an avid house flipper. Her love for houses and interior design paved the way for her book, aptly entitled "Home," and "Ellen's Design Challenge," her furniture design reality show on HGTV, which is now on its second season. DeGeneres also has her own line of lifestyle brand called ED by Ellen.

"Design is really my true love. I loved it before I started doing stand-up. I loved it before anything," the 57-year-old told USA Today last year.

In another interview for The New York Times, she said, "I somehow manage to find out what's on the market everywhere. People come to me. I like looking whether I'm buying or not. I love real estate."

Coincidentally, Elle Decor reported that DeGeneres' house flipping hobby has brought together up to six degrees of real estate connection among Hollywood's elite. Here are some celebrities who, in one way or another, have lived in a home that DeGeneres owned:

Courtney Love. The singer is one of the first stars who bought an "Ellen house" in 1997. She later sold the home to another legend, Paul McCartney, in 2001.

Ryan Seacrest. In 2012, the "American Idol" judge purchased a Beverly Hills mansion from DeGeneres, for a whopping $37 million.

Nick Jonas. As previously reported, the 23-year-old popstar is currently renting a home in Hollywood Hills that DeGeneres owns.

Jessica Simpson. The singer and fashion mogul lived in DeGeneres' former Beverly Hills mansion from 2005 to 2013. Actress Jennifer Lawrence now owns the said home.

Another "The Hunger Games" star that has ties to DeGeneres is Josh Hutcherson, who bought a two-bedroom house in Los Angeles in 2012. The home was was previously owned by the late actor Heath Ledger, who bought it from DeGeneres while he was still alive.
