NBA Rumors: Brandon Bass Draws Trade Interest; Rockets, Hornets & Pacers Potential Suitors

Boston Celtics power forward Brandon Bass has reportedly drawn interest from multiple teams, making him a potential trade bait for the team before the February 19 trade deadline.

Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald reported that Bass could like be dealt to another team, as the Celtics look to find an identity with their young core. Sources indicated there already a number of teams that inquired for availability of the 29-year old Bass on the trading block, some of which are contenders that deeply need depth at the power forward position.

Scouts and opposing front-office types have begun to speak and inquire about the 29-year-old forward, a practice that’s generally a precursor to discussing a trade. Danny Ainge could not be reached on whether teams have called about Bass — not that he would say anyway — but it certainly makes sense.,” according to Bulpett.

Gerald Wallace, who is also a potential candidate for a trade, is not surprised at all to learn that a talented big man like Bass is drawing tremendous interest on the trading front.

"That doesn’t surprise me. Brandon is an exceptional big. He’s very good in the pick and roll, and he’s very good defensively at moving his feet. He’s one of our best defensive bigs we have, so it doesn’t surprise me at all," according to Wallace.

Bass is averaging 8.3 points and 3.4 rebounds in 18.5 minutes per game. He’s also shooting 52.8 percent from the field with 16.29 player efficiency rating. Moreover, Bass is considered a viable trade target because he only earns $6.9 million salary for a guy that produces solid numbers.

The Celtics have several options if they pursue on trading Bass. The Houston Rockets have always been interested to add more depth to their lineup, while teams like the Miami Heat, Charlotte Hornets & the Indiana Pacers might also make run for Bass’ services.
