Real Estate Technology: Mobile Phone App That Secures Safety of Agents

A mobile phone app that secures the safety of the real estate agent is now serving its purpose. This new tool is initiated by Ohio Real Estate Officials because of the recent incident that happened to one of the agents of the state.

Dayton Daily News reports that the officials of the Ohio Real Estate "have laid out plans aimed at improving the safety of agents in the state, a move that comes more than a year after an Arkansas real estate agent was kidnapped and killed."

It has also been announced lately that HER Realtors will be coming up with a "security phone app" for all its Ohio agents. To date, there are 1,200 registered real estate agents in "The Buckeye State." The board of Ohio Association of Realtors "has voted to make a component of the app available to all real estate agents across the state."

The desire to provide a mobile app that secures the safety of the real estate agents has grown stronger when this recent incident happened. Prior to the kidnapping and killing of the agent from Arkansas, it has been noted that last year has several cases were reported about agents being placed in disquieting circumstances.

Having a mobile app such as this, Real Agent Guard, the mobile software will "provide a list of nearby safe harbor sites for meeting strangers, alerts offices and colleagues that an agent is meeting with a client at a specific location and has a panic button that alerts their office and police departments." Another helpful feature of this app is that it "also records video of open-house visitors."

According to 13 ABC, this new mobile app was actually "under development when Arkansas real estate agent Beverly Carter was kidnapped and killed in late 2014."
