Bedroom Colors: 2016 Color Ideas and Trends for Your Personal Space

The bedroom is considered by many as their personal space in their home, that's why it's important that it provides comfort and pleasure through its design and features. If you're looking to spice up your bedroom with new colors, here are some color ideas and schemes you can try, according to the latest trends in 2016.

Behr, a "supplier of architectural paint and exterior wood care products" in the US and Canada, has listed on its website 2016 color trends you may try in any space in your home, including your bedroom.

If you want your bedroom colors to pop this 2016, you can try Behr's "high contrast" color scheme, which mixes chromatic brights with dark moody tones. The colors combined include Behr's paints named Black Pearl (black), Pagoda (pink), Emperor's Silk (green), Galapagos (blue) and Canary Diamond (yellow). In the site's sample, the curtains had the Galapagos color, while furniture such as chairs had the Canary Diamond shade. Other room accessories such as lamps had the Emperor's silk color, while one wall section of the room was painted Black Pearl, and another wall section, a separate area from the main room, had Pagoda wall colors.

If such scheme is too colorful for you, you can try House Beautiful's color idea where the neutrals are paired with jewel tones. According to designer Christos Prevezanos, using vibrant jewel tone against neutral palettes direct your eyes to a certain focal point, so it's a nice color trend to apply if you want to highlight key pieces in your bedroom. Some of the bedroom colors you can include in such scheme are powdery pink or blush, which can be combined with metallic shades such as antique brass or bronze. You can also use yellow and mix it with neutrals such as gray, mushroom or taupe.
