Although there is a cool down in different property markets over the past year, there are more real estate billionaires in 2015 than that of the previous year as recorded by FORBES with a total of 157 real estate tycoons.
More than half of the 20 richest property moguls are from the Asian-Pacific nations. There are seven from Hong Kong, three from China, four from America, three from UK and one each from Singapore, United Arab Emirates and Taiwan.
The richest estate mogul is Hong Kong’s Lee Shau Kee who has an estimated worth of US$24.8 billion. He is dubbed as one of the richest landlords in Hong Kong who has properties not just in Hong Kong but also on the mainland of China, Domain reported.
He is an investor in Hong Kong’s iconic International Financial Center and was also involved in projects which include the Henderson Metropolitan along Nanjing West Road near the Bund. He also has control over the Miramar Hotel and Hong Kong and China Gas.
