Trends can change from one season and year to another. While this rule generally applies to your wardrobe, your kitchen may also need to keep up with the changing times. Here are some kitchen trends you need to watch out for in 2016.
2016 may be the year when pastels dominate the kitchen. According to Forbes, interior designer Jane Lockhart has seen a shift from the use of white motifs to pastel colors.
"Charcoal, grays and even neutral pastels like pale blue, pale green gray and tinted whites are the new alternative to the standard white," she said.
Aside from the colors, Lockhart and Gail Drury predicted that kitchens will also be keeping up with the transition to smart homes. Aside from seeing the increase in the installation of built-in ovens and kitchen appliances, the interior designer shared that there may be designated spots for your devices in the kitchen.
"Look for areas with hidden charging stations to store devices like phones and tablets so that they are always operable, at hand and charged," she added.
Metal will also become a predominant choice in 2016, as the publication noted that a combination of metal and wood can immediately provide contrast in your kitchen. Both interior designers also agreed on seeing an '80s theme in the kitchen, as seen on brass accessories and high-gloss surfaces.
House Beautiful noted that rose gold finishes for certain kitchen tools and appliances are already available in certain stores.
Aside from this, there is already a tap, which transforms plain water into sparkling water, or an app that can change tap water to a fresh cup of espresso or latte.
Creo has also recently released a new range of bakeware, which can be used in a variety of settings. This all-purpose bakeware is said to be freezer-, oven-, fridge-, dishwasher-, and microwave-safe, which means that you can eliminate clutter in your kitchen.
