Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Fight: Terence Crawford Next For Pacman?

The fight of the century between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather is long overdue. Ever since 2008, both parties have been meaning to make the match happen but they can't seem to get the terms polished.

The much-awaited bout is nearly six years in the making. But before anything else, a new kid in town wants to get a piece of Pacquiao first before Mayweather gets the privilege to challenge him inside the ring. According to Bleacher Report, Terence Crawford, Omaha's new favorite son, would be the second best contender next to Mayweather should the mega fight fall through.

The 27-year-old boxer with much potential and at the prime of his career can be a good match for Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao. With his record of 24 wins and 17 knockouts, the result would be quite interesting.

As Crawford moves up to the 140-pound division and Pacquiao goes down to 140 pounds, this match could push through. Freddie Roach wants Pacman to fight at this level for his upcoming match. And this may be just the ticket for Crawford.

However, no final announcement has been made as to who will enter the ring against Pacman. Not even the much-wanted Mayweather.

ESPN reported that Mayweather will retire next Sept. and plans on taking on two more fights before he finally calls it the end of his boxing career and the beginning of his Mayweather Promotions brand. He reserved the months of May and September for his last two fights. This does not assure fans of a slot for the Filipino champ, though.

Mayweather, having a clean record and an impressive 47-0 winning streak seems to be settling for boxers who are clearly not at the same rank as him, noted Latin Post. Marcos Maidana, for instance, gave him the best fight of his life but critics still say that Maidana was of a class lower than Mayweather.

Floyd didn't even give it his best shot; he was still holding back his inner beast as do they say. But what made the match controversial is that Maidana allegedly bit Mayweather's left hand during the eighth round.

It was a good fight for both teams but we have yet to see a fight that is one for the books. Could a Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight be it? Share your thoughts!
