An Igloo-type BnB in New York would have been the best "B&B" deal for $200 a night. But then the place has been shut down shortly after it has been advertized online for few hours.
Curbed reports that what could have been a nuisance to most residents could be an opportunity to some. For example the blizzard that raged the northeast over the weekend could have been a source of income for Patrick Horton, a resident of Greenpoint.
Report says that Horton made a primitive Igloo, which he intended to be rented out to people who like to experience staying in a backyard Eskimo hut. However, after advertizing it at Airbnb, the team support has pulled it out after it has been posted for 6 hours.
Outside Online says the Airbnb decided to shut down the ad because the Igloo "didn't meet the occupancy standards." In addition, the listing website sent a notice that reads: "I am contacting you today regarding your new listing, the 'Boutique Winter Igloo for 2.' We are happy to see that you guys are staying busy and having fun during Blizpocalypse. Unfortunately, your igloo, while very well constructed, has failed to meet our occupancy standards and has been removed from search results. As an appreciator of fine igloos around the world, I did want to offer you a coupon that you can use to book your first reservation as a guest. Please be sure to pick a place with running water, electricity, and a roof that doesn't melt!"
As expected, the primitive igloo has already been listed on Craiglist. Patrick Horton, who is an art director, said that he already had this idea together with his roommates a few months back. He added that since then they had been so dedicated with the idea of making an igloo for rent.
The blizzard last weekend brought so much ice that it gave Horton the opportunity to build the igloo that he and his roommates had been conceptualizing. They piled up the ice about 8 feet high, and then started building the igloo. Of course, they had watched "igloo-making videos on YouTube" first. When the structure was finished, they provided the place with blankets, pillows and electric lights.
