As the new year kicked in, it is anticipated that 2016 kitchen designs will be talked about. Kitchen designs are expected to incorporate 1980s style, muted colors, and metallic materials. Here are some of the 2016 kitchen designs that will be in style:
- A touch of 1980s. Interior designer Jane Lockhart claims that brass accessories, mirrored backsplashes and high gloss surface are back. There will be a twist in the design with the addition of natural materials to eradicate the synthetic look.
- Muted color hues. According to Forbes, Lockhart thinks that kitchen colors will be different this year. "Charcoal, grays and even neutral pastels like pale blue, pale green gray and tinted whites are the new alternative to the standard white," Lockhart said. She added that these colors can be incorporated into the furniture including cabinets and backsplashes. For kitchen wood, the interior designer anticipates lighter tones such as white oak in rift grain, whitewashed woods and walnuts. Drier colors will be in, while bold primary colors will be used in the back burner.
- Metals are back. One of the 2016 kitchen designs that is expected to be popular is the use of different types of metals. This could be used in faucets, cabinets, and pendant lights, Houzz reports.
- Geometric patterns are in. As Style At Home reported, one of the 2016 kitchen designs include the incorporation of geometric patterns. You can create an accent wall with geometric tiles or a hexagonal backsplash. Patterned hardwood and geometric-shaped tiles flooring will also be a great choice.
- Slim countertops. Thick marble and butcher block slabs will be taking a break this year. Instead, contemporary kitchens will now be built with thin countertops for a sleek appearance.
- More texture. Texture will come into play in 2016 kitchen designs. Raw wood cabinets and rough stone surfaces will be the rage in 2016 kitchen designs.
