Aby Rosen’s Midtown Duplex Penthouse to Hit the Market at $65 Million

Aby Rosen's duplex penthouse at the 100 East 53rd Street building reportedly will hit the market with a price tag of a whopping $65 million, $10 million higher than the initial estimated price.

The Midtown penthouse will occupy the 60th and 61st floors of the luxury condominium, which will have 94 units in total. The penthouse will feature four bedrooms and four bathrooms, covering a 6,760-square-foot space, according to The Real Deal.

Rosen's RFR Holding was initially expected to ask $55 million for the penthouse, the publication noted. This makes the duplex the most expensive unit in a building with an estimated total sellout of almost $762 million. The company's asking price for the property is now $9,615 per square foot, considering the price hike.

Earlier this month, Rosen told the publication that most units at 100 East 53rd Street would avoid "crazy numbers," quoting a "very vibrant market" at the building's price point.

An article from Curbed said the penthouse will also have a 44-foot-long great room that can be used as an area to display large artworks with its 23-foot ceilings. Rosen is also known as an art collector.

The duplex's floor plan was revealed in November when family and friends sales launched at the faceted tower. The first exclusive look inside of the penthouse came when the penthouse pricing was revealed.

On the other hand, the 94-unit luxury condominium at 100 East 53rd Street is designed by well-known architect Norman Foster, along with China Vanke and Hines. All of the interior work is done by William T. Georgis.

"People previously looked at Midtown as an area that was just full of offices," said Rosen. "But now people are looking at it as a place that's more livable, that has more retail, shopping, and great dining experiences. With Midtown, it's now a case of people wanting to live and work in the same place."

The exclusive listings broker for the 63-story structure is Leonard Steinberg's Compass. It is not clear though how many condominiums at the building are under contract so far.
