Restore a Kitchen With These Great, Homey Layouts and Features

As what most people claim, the heart of every home is the area where hearty meals are prepared for loved ones -- the kitchen. This is where you can often find visiting friends and family members eating, preparing foods, cooking, and enjoying one another's company.

The primary secret to having an inviting kitchen where family members could get together comfortably is to have one that is big enough to accommodate a number of mingling people. A functional kitchen island that has got the most important tools and comfortable stools, as well as enough seats for everybody when the food is ready, are also good pluses.

Here are a few family kitchens that highlight most of these features. Almost all of these kitchens have open layouts in order to make all the nearby and surrounding components blend seamlessly.

Jenni Kayne's Kitchen

The fashion designer's Los Angeles home has a kitchen with a central island where the whole family can get together. It has vintage pendant French fixtures which were bought from Obsolete. The stools, on the other hand, are created by DM/DM.

Dominique Vorillon's Kitchen

In Vorillon's Carpinteria, California home kitchen, it is the children's chairs that have added spice to the whole area. The side table along with the Tulip chairs were all designed by Eero Saarinen.

Richard Powers' Kitchen

This Brooklyn kitchen has got plenty of space for family gatherings. The Design Within Reach-made Bassam Fellows stools are perfect for the house. Its fittings and sink are created by Franke, while the dining chairs were brought from Ligne Roset. Martin Schoeller captured the image.

Roger Davies' Kitchen

The laminate counters and its mahogany-veneer cabinetry are original works from Malibu, California, restored especially for Boyd Design. The kitchen, which the owner refers to as an eat-in, allows the entire family to gather together while their dinner is on the way.

Michael Moran's Kitchen

The Hampton house's eat-in kitchen highlights chairs from Hans J Wegner. These were bought from Furniture From Scandinavia, while the rug is from Stark.
