DIY Tips to Make the Kitchen Counter Look More Vibrant

Kitchen countertops don't have to be plain and boring, with a couple DIY tricks, you'll be good to go. Giving your kitchen countertop a makeover does not have to be expensive; with the help of the internet and a few DIY hacks, you'll turn the dull kitchen into a vibrant, colorful, and perky space.

Listed below are a few tips from House Logic and Apartment Therapy on how to convert a dull boring kitchen into a colorful, vibrant space.

Laminate

Having laminated countertops often leave a wrong impression with some saying that it looks cheap, but that's not always true. The countertop's design may actually vary as some designs may look cheap, but other designs can make the plain countertop look elegant. It's always a matter of how you place it and make sure to choose the tight design.

As per Meredith Barclay from Home Depot, "You can't tell the difference until you touch it."

Contact Paper

Contact paper is the cheapest option, but durability wise, it does not last long, but it does make a one touch solution in changing the counter's look. It provides your countertop an instant makeover at a cheaper cost.

As per Lisa Kaplan Gordon, contact paper makes the countertop look 100% better. She then added "Installation requires a steady hand - you'll need to be careful to avoid bubbles - but shouldn't take more than a few hours to dramatically change your kitchen's look."

Paint

Painting any surface to change the look is always a good option, may it be the walls, the door, or the countertop. It comes in cheap and is highly doable. Painting the countertop doesn't last forever, but it can last long, and it is incredibly cheap too.

As per Dawn Sailor, a design blogger, "I just couldn't live with what was there forever, but we didn't have unlimited funds to update everything," so she opted to repaint her counter-tops which turned out to be an elegant white and grey surface.
