The Most Important Thing to Remember in Getting a House on a Cliff

Few sights are as wonderful as a home roosted on a rocky bluff, ignoring the sea-aside from when that precipice begins to disintegrate. That is the thing that the startling video footage has demonstrated as the event occurred to the coastline in Pacifica, CA, only south of San Francisco.

The city of Pacifica has announced a neighborhood in a highly sensitive situation. With this, it has denounced 20 homes as dreadful, requesting its occupants to abandon the premises. More might take after, on the grounds because El Niño is a long way from being done.

Pacifica City Manager Lorie Tinfow in an interview told KGO News "We still have a month or so of weather, and we can't predict what can happen looking ahead."

So in case you're pining for your very own cliffside retreat, there is something you can do to keep it from slipping out from under you. Pablo Solomon, a planner and science educator said that certain shorelines are without a doubt more secure than others.

He added, quote: "There are basically two types of beachfronts: those in which the ocean is depositing sand and creating more beach, and those in which the ocean currents and waves are steadily eroding them away," he explains. Buying a home on the former is way better than the latter.

"You just do not build on an eroding beachfront and expect to not end up in the ocean sooner or later. When you are building on dirt cliffs, it makes no difference if they are 8 feet tall or 80-they will eventually erode and collapse. In fact, building on stone cliffs is not always a sure answer. Give the ocean enough time, and castles, forts, and anything can fall." End quote.

So if you are planning or in the process of building a Cliffside home, always remember safety first and consult a geodetic engineer if needs be in order be on the safe side of life.
