Warner Bros. has confirmed the star-studded cast of upcoming film "Suicide Squad."
The super villain flick includes Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg, Jai Courtney as Boomerang and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress. Last but definitely not least, Jared Leto will appearing in the movie as the Joker, noted IGN.
The actors tied to the film has been rumored for months but the announcement marks the first official communication on the project's casting.
The film is based on the DC comicbook which centers on a team of super villains who work out a deal with the government to undertake a deadly mission for a chance at redemption.
According to Variety, "Suicide Squad" will be written and directed by David Ayer with the help of producers Charles Roven and Richard Suckle. Additionally, Zack Snyder -- director for upcoming "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" -- Deborah Snyder, Colin Wilson and Geoff Johns will be providing support as executive producers.
"The Warner Bros. roots are deep on this one," said Warner Bros. president Greg Silverman in a statement via Variety. "We look forward to seeing this terrific ensemble, under David Ayer's amazing guidance, give new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero."
Another possible addition to the film is "Batman v Superman" star Jesse Eisenberg. Variety reports that the actor is "in talks" to reprise his role as Lex Luthor. The role of Amanda Waller has not been cast but reportedly, Warner Bros. is considering a number of candidates including Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Oprah Winfrey, who is said to be the top choice.
The film's big stars will likely bring flocks of fans to the theater. Some of the cast's most notable projects include Jared Leto's Oscar-winning role in the "Dallas Buyer's Club;" Will Smith's "Men in Black" series, along with Hardy's role as Bane in "The Dark Knight Rises."
"I can say that it's a 'Dirty Dozen' with supervillains," Ayer said, via Comic Book Resources on the film. "Then I can ask the question, 'Does a movie really need good guys?'"
"Suicide Squad" will begin filming in Toronto April 2015 in time for its slated on August 5, 2016.
